Residential Telephone Entry/Intercom Systems
Many single family residences prefer the convenience of having a phone entry or intercom system at the gate. This allows visitors to let the resident know they have arrived; allows the resident to see (via CCTV) who is visiting; and remote program the gate for hold opens and special entry codes from the house phone.

Telephone Entry Systems

Single family residential phone entry systems share a phone line with a main house phone line so there is not extra phone line/fee required. We service and install many phone entries. Our favorites are the DoorKing 1812 and the Linear RE series. But come with a camera option that can be viewed on monitors in the house.

This is the industry standard. While not cutting edge in its design, functionally it is flawless and has lots of programming capability to satisfy those home owners who want more security options.

This unit in one of four designs DOES have design flair and good functionality.

Intercom Systems
Intercoms were very popular into the 1990’s. We service many models. However, unless a home is being built from scratch or undergoing a major overhaul which will include the easy installation of low voltage wiring throughout the home, we recommend a phone entry system. The intercom we recommend is Aiphone.

Aiphone makes a wide range of intercom systems that are very reliable and handsome. The hard wiring from the intercom to the one or multiple control stations in the house must be in place.

Wireless Intercom Systems

Bay Cities Automatic Gates is staying on top of the options for wireless (Wi-Fi, cellular, point-to-point RF) for homes. Of those that we have installed, we are most impressed with the AAS PhoneAire. We will be happy to discuss with you other options. Our general rule of thumb, however, remains if possible put in a hardwired system.

This system is excellent for point to point communication and can be tied into the phone system in the home. It does require line of site between the gate and the house transceivers. It is not a beautiful box but as an alternative to a long trench run to the gate from the house it can be a very practical solution.
