Fencing, Pedestrian & Vehicle Gates

Bay Cities Automatic Gates works with local partners to design, build and install custom fencing and gates for all types of applications. We work with wood, ornamental iron and chain link materials. For commercial and industrial properties we are typically asked to keep the design functional, simple and cost effective. But at some residential properties we work with the designer to create a one-of-a-kind product. We’ve combined metal and wood and worked with stainless and aluminum. Please visit our image gallery for some examples or send us a sketch of what you have in mind and we’ll get to work developing a proposal and cost estimate.

Answers to some common questions:

Which material is most cost effective and durable?

In general terms chain link fencing and gates is the most cost effective material. It is also durable given it is made of galvanized materials. Ornamental iron is next most cost effective and is usually considered more attractive. We typically prime and powder coat it to ensure its durability. Wood fencing can be cost effective. However, automated wooden gates get tricky. If you want a gorgeous, durable wooden gate we recommend using special cuts of Western Red Cedar, Redwood, Mahogany or Fir. But the wood must be kiln dried to minimize shrinkage, twisting and seasonal expansion. It is also critical that the metal frame is well made and there is room for expansion and contraction between the metal and wood due to their differential expansion rates with heat and moisture. When these factors are taken into account durable wooden gates become more expensive than iron gates.

Can you make a gate like the one at [fill in the address]?

Yes. We can take a design you have seen and reproduce it for your property. Often modifications need to be made due to differences in property lay outs but finding gates designs you like in the neighborhood or in photos is a great way to focus in on your final design.
